The Mississippi Association of Professional Process Servers (MAPPS) primarily acts as a unified voice for the state's process serving industry. Their work focuses on three main areas:

Legislative Advocacy: They actively lobby the state legislature to promote laws that help the industry and combat those that could harm it. For example, they have pushed for legislation to exempt process servers from trespassing laws while they are performing their official duties.

Standardization & Compliance: MAPPS develops and promotes standardized legal forms to ensure consistency across the state. They recently approved a new Affidavit of Service that complies with Mississippi Rule 4, designed to prevent identity theft by removing servers' personal social security numbers and addresses from public court filings.

Professional Standards: The association establishes a strict Code of Ethics and offers certification courses to improve professionalism and safety within the field.
